Double Twisted Hexagonal Mesh Gabions

Notably, Phu Thanh Phat is the first manufacturer in Vietnam to produce triple twisted hexagonal mesh. The triple twisted mesh is fully tensioned, resulting in superior performance compared to double twisted mesh. Therefore, the mesh achieves a significantly higher tensile stress.

CLASSIFICATION
Based on the construction materials, gabions are divided into two main types:

Galvanized Gabions
Galvanized gabions are gabions constructed from steel wires that are hot-dip galvanized and woven together to form a mesh. This type of galvanized gabion is typically used for above-ground projects or areas where exposure to strong oxidation is minimal. For example, they are used to prevent landslides on mountain passes and soil erosion at the foot of mountains.

PVC-Coated Galvanized Gabions
PVC-coated galvanized gabions are gabion products constructed from steel wires that are hot-dip galvanized and coated with a layer of PVC. Thanks to the coated zinc layer, this type of gabion has higher oxidation resistance compared to galvanized steel mesh gabions. They are widely used in projects with high oxidation environments, such as hydraulic projects: river embankments, sea dikes, stream banks, canals, ditches, irrigation dams, etc.

PROTECT
Gabions have a steel wire structure with high deformation capacity, allowing them to withstand pressure from soil and water better. In cases where the construction structure is placed on weak geological areas, which are prone to erosion and landslides due to underground waves or high flow pressure, the deformation function will help the gabions remain stable, protecting the structure from structural and quality impacts.
LOAD BEARING CAPACITY
Gabions are shaped by layering and connecting them with binding wire to create a solid mass between the gabions. The rocks within the gabions are tightly interconnected through the wire mesh frame of the gabion, preventing the rocks from shifting within the gabion. Consequently, the tightly packed rocks generate a substantial binding force. This factor enables gabions to withstand external forces from the natural environment, enhancing the load-bearing capacity and lifespan of the structure.
EROSION CONTROL
One of the extremely important functions of gabions is erosion control. This function makes gabions an indispensable material when constructing hydraulic and road infrastructure projects. The bonding of the rocks within the gabions increases over time due to the growth of plant roots, weeds, moss, or the filling of voids with silt and soil, thereby enhancing erosion resistance. This helps gabions perform their erosion control function most effectively
DRAINAGE
Gabion mesh is structured with open mesh openings, providing extremely rapid water drainage. It is widely used in construction projects in areas prone to frequent floods or for building water drainage embankments and dams. To maximize the drainage effect of gabions, it is advisable to use standard gabions in combination with smaller rocks to create optimal permeability within the gabion. For instance, using gabions with small mesh sizes like 60x80mm to contain small rocks not only ensures excellent water drainage but also simplifies construction.
